senior regatta
Todays unboat race was hosted by Hawthorne Court at the swimming pool at 2:30pm. Mom called me to come and watch. She was a participant. She was confident her boat was going to
win because Andrew had given her the winning solution..aaa..propellant..baking soda and vinegar. In theory..the gases produced..anyway .There were four entrants. The race went like this. The boat in lane 1 had a string tied to it. When the race began she pulled her boat to the far end of the pool and promptly sat down. The other participants, the ones that followed the rules, were just beginning. Lane 2 and 3's boats had sails attached. One driver used a hand held battery operated fan to propell his boat and the other owner used a mechanical fan. Each of these participants completed the race...in time. Mom's jet sled fizzled..tipped, lost its colors and drifted. I believe it had been watered down by the rooster tail of the leading boat! Attempts were made to restart USA duck 1..to no avail. Mom was stunned. She continued to trouble shoot the situation long after the race was over...bad baking soda..vinegar too old..maybe they gave me baking powder instead of soda. I think she wanted to win...It was a fun afternoon. Craig.
