Coast to Coast

Steve and I are back from our trip coast to coast trip. We walked just over 200 miles across the width of northern England, starting on the coast of the Irish Sea at the town of St. Bees and ending on the coast of the North Sea at Robin Hood's Bay. It took us 16 days to do the actual walk, which covered three national parks (Lakes District Nat'l Park, Yorkshire Dales Nat'l Park and the North York Moors Nat'l Park). We took a little detour off of the usual route to walk through Tebay, too. It's a small village set on the banks of the River Lune with lots of farms and one great pub. We also spent a few days in Edinburgh before and after the walk and, due to a plane delay, ended up having an evening in Dublin as well...bonus! It was a fantastic trip - the terrain and villages were all so varied, the scenery was picturesque, and we met lots of interesting people along the way. Now we're back in NYC living at quite a different pace!

N.Y. finale

Hello Tebay bloggers. It was good to see Melanie and Steve again. I made it home from N.Y. after a short stay on the way home with Sam and Megan and Rick and Jennifer. Weather was still lousy in the West at the time. I left N.Y. at 94 degrees and flew into Seattle at 59 degrees. The humidity in N.Y. is uncomfortable, thats an understatement. To recap my N.Y. stay, I made it my goal to stay busy and utilize my time. I spent every other day on the subway..heading for something interesting to see or eat. Along the way ended up in BatteryPark, Central Park, Time Square, China Town, Little Italy, MoMa, historic Brooklyn and Williamsburg bridges and lunched at "Katz's deli" and Papacito's , Grimaldi's, Brooklyn Label and the Red Star tavern. Eating good food is fun. One of the highlites of my stay was attending the Broadway play "Wicked". Incredible, it blew me away, it was so good. Enjoyed fishing for the striper bass. Didn't catch one, but had fun trying. The guy fishing next to me caught a 20 pounder. They fight hard. Made some new friends..sitting on the stoop. I'm just going to have to go back to say ,"Hi" again. Craig. M/S enjoyed their English vacation. I'm looking forward to their blog. (first two pictures..M/S leaving, M/S returning.) p.s. I invited Megans Mom and Dad , Pam and Jeff Murdoch, to join the blog, post and read.
